The Klamath Trinity Joint Unified School District has closed all schools within its district February 8, 2016 through February 12, 2016 due to mold.

The Superintendent, Jon Ray, announced the closure on Friday.

Ray said the district was required to take immediate health and safety measures involving remediation due to mold and that the measure included immediate evacuation and closure of several classrooms, cafeterias and kitchens.

The evacuation of the noted areas prompted the district to close schools Ferbruary 8-12. Ray said due to a previous scheduled holiday, there will not be school the following week, February 15-21, 2016. Ray said school will resume within the district on Monday, February 22, 2016.

The Klamath Trinity Joint Unified School District will hold a press conference and community meeting regarding these closures on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Hoopa Valley High School’s gymnasium.

Ray said parents of schools within the district should expect announcements from individual schools’ principals about parent/community meetings to discuss how these closures will affect each campus.

“As a father and a family man, I have an understanding how this affects all of us. Please be assured, we are acting in the best interest of our students and staff. Thank you for your time and patience during this incredibly challenging time,” Ray said.
